$466 million worth of electric trains for Amtrak

From 2013, expect to see the first of Amtrak's new electric locomotives.

Manufactured by Siemens, 70 new trains are to be introduced onto the US rail network, operating at speeds of up to 125mph. The trains will also feature regenerative braking systems, which pump electricity back to the grid when the trains brake.

This news is the latest since $80 million was pledged to high-speed rail projects by various US states earlier in the year.

Hopefully these new projects will contribute to a growth in the use and enjoyment of rail in the USA. For more information, view the original article.
