Travel Info

Hilversum is situated in the Gooi area of the Netherlands, between Amsterdam and Utrecht. The city is well known for its striking modern architecture and array of trees and greenery. The Pinetum Blijdenstein, a botanical garden, is well worth a visit.

The city is most easily reached by train, with services running every 15 minutes from Hilversum to destinations including Amsterdam, Utrecht, and Amersfoort. The city is also served by international trains to Berlin and Hannover.

Walking is the best way to get around the city, and the centre is only a short walk from the railway station. Most of the city centre streets are free from traffic. For the more athletic, the city is also great for exploring by bike. Those choosing this option can take advantage of the vast number of biking trails available just outside the city. There are plenty of places to hire a bicycle within the city itself.
