Apeldoorn is a city situated in the province of Gelderland. The city has a zoo specialising in monkeys, and there is an assortment of mountain bike trails around 20 minutes outside the city centre.
The best way to get around the city is by bicycle, with rental options available at the railway station. There is also a local bus service that runs every half an hour.
The city is around one hour from Amsterdam by train.
