The Grounded Travel community is a loyal band of overland travel enthusiasts. By commenting on pages, they help us keep up-to-date with the latest changes to routes, and let us know about their favourite journeys, so that we can make sure we cover them.

You are cordially invited to join our community, free of charge, to help spread the word about the benefits of overland travel. If you'd like to be more heavily involved with Grounded Travel, we are always on the lookout for experts to help us with content, answering questions etc, so do get in touch.

We hope to be able to offer our community exclusive ticket and other travel-related offers in the future. So join the community to hear about them first.

Grounded Travel was created to provide an easy way for people to discover how easy it is to get around Europe without flying. Its creators are great believers in travelling overland, rather than by plane, not only due to the environmental benefits but also the benefits it brings to the whole travelling experience.

The site was originally launched in 2008 by Ed and Helen, who both live in London, UK. Both believe that there are common misconceptions relating to the difficulty and time associated with flightless travel, and hope that Grounded Travel will assist with the promotion of overland travel not only as a sustainable alternative, but also a more enjoyable way to experience the journey as well as the destination.
