Joining the community is free and painless. By registering, you will be given access to edit most of the pages on Grounded Travel. Rather than opening up the site to spammers, we are hoping that people with genuine knowledge or experience of a route, journey or destination will be able to share what they know with the rest of the world. If you spot something that is obviously spam, or inaccurate, you will also have the ability to edit it out.

There is a list of incomplete pages below. Login or register, and feel free to edit any of these incomplete pages. Alternatively, find some content that you know about, and add or edit it. If you know about a route, destination or journey that is missing from Grounded Travel, feel free to create a page for it.

Grounded Travel was created to provide an easy way for people to discover how easy it is to get around Europe without flying. Its creators are great believers in travelling overland, rather than by plane, not only due to the environmental benefits but also the benefits it brings to the whole travelling experience.

The site was originally launched in 2008 by Ed and Helen, who both live in London, UK. Both believe that there are common misconceptions relating to the difficulty and time associated with flightless travel, and hope that Grounded Travel will assist with the promotion of overland travel not only as a sustainable alternative, but also a more enjoyable way to experience the journey as well as the destination.
